Our much sought after annual event for LAPF, Liva Confluence’17 held recently, had celebrated excellence in product innovation, business growth and consumer connect for brand Liva through the Liva Excellence Awards. LAPF members and Brand leaders were recognized for their achievement, made special by the presence of our Chairman Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Fabric of the future Liva Créme launched
Birla Cellulose proudly launched Liva Créme, at LAPF Confluence’17. Brand ambassador Ms. Kangana Ranaut looked stunning in a dress made from Liva Créme, and she was much impressed by the fabric. Liva Créme is nature based luxuriously soft fabric which imparts fluidity, fall and sheen to the garment.

FABTEX – The Indian Fabric Show
APRIL 27–29, 2017
  The FABTEX Show which concluded after a 3–day run was visited by the who’s who of readymade garment manufacturers, brands and retailers. The exhibition provided an opportunity for the exhibitors for the expansion of business connections, enriching commercial networks and developing more business prospects and partnerships.
12th Edition of Fibres & Yarn
APRIL 6–8, 2017
  The 12th edition of Fibres & Yarns which concluded in Mumbai recently at the World Trade Centre, met with overwhelming trade visitor response. Over 8000 trade visitors from across India and select from overseas visited the show. The repeat exhibitors at the show were nearly 95%. These repeat exhibitors, who have been participating at the exhibition since its first edition displayed their latest fibres, yarns and fabric collections.

JULY 10–12, 2017
The Clothing Manufacturer Association of India (CMAI) will be weaving together India’s largest apparel trade show – the 65th National Garment Fair (NGF). The trade show will have exhibitors from across the country who will set up their stalls at the event. The fair will be a platform for the NGF exhibitors to meet agents, distributors, high street retailers and e-commerce companies. The fair will go a long way in boosting the morale of the apparel industry, apart from the economic benefits it will lead to.

Delegates meet to discuss business and exchange leads
About 250 delegates from different global brands NGOs, and manufacturers attended the recently held Sustainable Apparel Coalition Member meeting. The meeting was sponsored by Birla Cellulose and was a great affair all in all. Presentations highlighting the efforts on the part of the Birla Cellulose management, were shown at the event.
Innovation is the key to tackle environmental issues
More than 300 delegates from across the textile supply chain gathered for the 2017 edition of Sustainability Summit Planet Textiles. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from everyone. The event focused on how over the past decade, the fashion apparel industry developed new tools and initiatives to tackle environmental problems.
Textile machinery to attract 18% tax under GST
As per the info uploaded after the GST Council's decision, the GST rate for textile machinery has been decided at 18% by the GST Council. Rates for textiles and footwear are yet to be decided.
Exporters to get tax refund under GST within 7 days
Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured exporters that they would get their tax claims refund within seven days under the new GST regime. Mrs. Sitharaman added that the ministry has asked the GST Council to consider formulating an alternative mechanism for small and medium exporters on the issue of payment of taxes.
India, Chile expand PTA to immensely benefit exporters of both sides
India and Chile have signed an agreement on expansion of India–Chile Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA). It will facilitate exporters of both sides to take the advantage of tariff concessions as per the expanded PTA immediately which covers around 96% of bilateral trade. India’s exports to Chile are diverse which consist of items mostly manufactured by the MSME sector such as – yarn of polyester fibres, articles of apparel, textiles, readymade garments, transport equipment, drugs and pharmaceuticals, leather products, and engineering goods among others.
Japan to help India improve textile quality, raise export
India is looking to expand its paltry 1.24% share of the Japanese textile market by getting its government to pitch in and help Indian exporters by improving the testing standards and better understanding the requirements of their customers. Kick–starting the initiative, the Centre held a workshop in association with Japanese quality regulator QTEC. The association with QTEC is expected to not only expose Indian exporters to quality expectations from Japanese buyers but also help the textile ministry give a push to overall exports.
